2025 Karamea Anzac Day Commemorations Details By Dave Sanders – Anzac Community Co-ordinator/Master of Ceremonies
On behalf of our local fallen heroes who lost their young lives between WW1 And WW2 (all 28 of them)
I extend a warm and special invitation to all of our community and visitors to attend our 2025 local ANZAC DAY Remembrance Commemorations.
This year we are bringing back the Parade commencing at Memorial Gate with a brief formal Ceremony and allocation of the White Crosses. Our Karamea Area School including pupils, parents, community members will carry each individual white crosses (28) of our fallen to the formal Remembrance Service at the RSA Centre with support from local Emergency providers – Police, Fire & Emergency, St John’s, Karamea Health Prime Responder and Civil Defence (traffic/parade control).
We will also be joined by a Master Bag Piper, Westport RSA and both local and outside NZDF personnel.
You are all welcome to join in the parade and to bring along your own poppy for placing at either/and or Memorial Gate/RSA Centre during service or you can just head directly for our service at the RSA Centre.
Poppy week will commence on Thursday 17th April and can be found at Karamea Village Hotel, LW Hotel, Last Resort, Vinnies and Karamea Four Square – all donations go towards local veteran support/welfare.
