One month until the big Garage Sale

On Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of April the massive community garage sale will be happening at the Karamea Domain and School hall.
From what we’re hearing, everyone will be there and everything from cars and bikes to washing machines and clothes. Even spare building materials!

Are you saving up all your no-longer-needed treasures? Turn them into $$$ or swap ‘em.

Watch this space as we’ll soon be updating you on all the things you’ll need to know, like:

  • Set up / packdown times
  • How the ‘sites’ at the domain will work.
  • What goes inside the hall, what goes outside on the domain grounds.
  • Parking
  • Activities throughout the weekend - possibly an auction if we all beg our amazing auctioneer Willie Sage to say no to any work commitments and do this instead. No pressure Willie ;)
  • Some general rules about cars/domain grounds/hall/care

Watch also for the poll:
There’s NO FEE to put all your stuff in the garage sale but 10% of all actual sales will go to one of three local causes / groups. We’ll be doing a poll to ask our community what three causes you’d like to be the recipients.

Donations (Read on for a little story):
Some people are kindly donating items that they’d like ALL proceeds to go to one of the local causes. We’ll do a list later but for now here’s one example - the photo in this post:

Ed and Karen te Groen from Motueka donated this amazing brand new ALPINE XPLORER e-bike! Ed lived in Karamea in the 80’s and 90’s and has very treasured memories.
Soon to be retiring from their e-bike shop in Motueka (Smart Power) they said they could think of nothing more deserving than this community to have this bike to sell for a local cause.
Worth nearly $3k this thing’s got all the bells and whistles. Thank you, Ed and Karen!

Note: Donations are not expected at all, as there’s the 10% of sales going to local causes, but thank you sincerely to those who are donating, as it makes the fundraising aspect just that much more achievable. We love our philanthropists! (And everyone else as well of course!)
