What do you want funding for?
Karamea Community Incorporated (KCI) is applying for funding to support its activities in its dual roles of fundholder and leadership group for the Community Led Development Programme (CDLP) partnership between the Karamea Community and the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).
Since being appointed fundholder for the Karamea CDLP Partnership with DIA, KCI's administration budget requirements have grown, with requirements of more involved fund management and in-depth monitoring through financial review processes.
KCI is reliant on outside funding to ensure these requirements, along with other routine administrative costs can be met.
How does this relate to our community plan?
KCI and the Karamea CDLP Committee have overseen the initiation and ongoing development of the community plan.
Continuity of the organisation overseeing community-led development on the ground in Karamea is of paramount importance to ensuring the continued success of the programme.
If KCI were unable to secure funding, it simply wouldn't be able to execute its role in the community.
What is the start date / what is the end date?
Where will the benefit of this grant request be realised?
Karamea and Little Wanganui
What are the expected benefits/outcomes?
The ability to ensure continuity of quality financial management and monitoring and making sure that KCI members are adequately resourced to perform their duties. We expect KCI to be able to improve cooperation and communications with the community, and succeed in building on foundations laid in the first two years of our partnership with the DIA.
Briefly describe your project or planned activities
KCI's committee members serve dual roles, forming the leadership group and in their KCI role, completing the administrative duties of the fundholder for CLDP funding recipients.
More broadly, we operate with objectives outlined in our district plan;
# To undertake activities that enhance Karamea as a hospitable, safe and productive community where members of the community can live, share, play, celebrate, prosper and welcome others.
# To facilitate funding initiatives for projects that benefit the Karamea community in consultation with the community.
# To coordinate activities that will enhance the prosperity and wellbeing of the Karamea community.
# To encourage long term sustainable strategic planning in partnership with agencies in Karamea and elsewhere to obtain a balance between community, business, visitor and hospitality.
# To encourage and support good environmental policies and practise in acknowledgement of the importance of the natural environment in our area.
How will you show you have achieved it?
Through the efficient execution of our duties as CLDP fundholder, the continued evolution of the Karamea District Plan and the inclusion of new Community Led Development based projects. This will continue the recent renaissance shown in our small community.
