On 18 and 19 of May 2018, Kathleen Gavigan, Rosalie Sampson, Brian Corner and Clive Hellyar attended a Hui in Wellington, organised and funded by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA). All of the communities participating in a CLDP attended – thirteen communities in all. Eleven North Island communities and two from the South Island – Blackball and ourselves. Each community produced a poster to illustrate what they are doing. Here is ours:
We are still processing all the information and input we took on board over the two days of intensive participation and will be reporting to our next Committee meeting 7.00 pm on Monday 11 June at the Community Building (formerly known as the RSA). All are welcome to attend.
All of us who attended had a really positive experience. DIA are going to make these gatherings an annual event. All travel and accommodation expenses were paid by the department and we certainly recommend participation in future hui over the five year life of our agreement with DIA.
